Most people feel that seasonal shift every time autumn rolls around....the crisp cool breeze, the golden glow of the sun, the changing leaves. More than just feeling that seasonal change, you can work with these environmental energies through applying specific Feng Shui to your home.
Feng Shui is more than just moving furniture and adding cures. It's tuning into the subtle forces of energy, qi, that flow throughout our homes and impact our lives. And since energy is always changing and shifting, it's important to not just one-and-done Feng Shui.
When you work with Feng Shui per each season you begin to find more connection, fulfillment, and harmony within your space, yourself, and your life. Keep reading for some ways to apply Feng Shui to your space this autumn.
Reset your Rooms
Fall's energy is the perfect reminder to 'let things go'. After a busy summer season, our homes can often get a bit neglected and cluttered. With the transition into the colder and darker months ahead, it's a wonderful time to reset your space by decluttering and organizing, getting it prepped for the hibernation ahead.

Enhance the Metal Element
In Feng Shui, each of the five elements is connected to a season. For fall, that element is metal. You can obviously bring in more metal material into your home (think metal picture frames, mirrors, or accessories) or you can connect to this element in one of the various other ways. Colors that connect to metal are white, gray, and metallics. Shapes include circles and arches, and patterns would be polka dots, plaids, checkers, or anything with a high contrast to it.
Focus on the West Side
The directions also play a big role in the energy of Feng Shui. West is the direction connected to the season of fall. Find the west side of your home and bring extra attention to those areas for the autumn season. Are they tidy or full of clutter? Do these spaces feel cozy and inviting or dull and lifeless? Find ways to add to these spaces for the season depending on the room that it is. All it could need is a quick clean and refresh or maybe you even take full advantage of the season and decorate it to feel fully fall.

Harmonize your Travel Sector
The Travel/Helpful People sector of your home is often connected to the autumn season. That is because autumn is the season of change and endings. Nothing says change like traveling to new places and the season of fall is heavily tied to ancestors in many cultures around the world. It can be helpful to bring a little extra attention to this sector of your home this season. Add the metal element or bring in symbolic decor that connects to places you wish to visit or heirlooms from your past loved ones.
Decorate for the Season
Since Feng Shui is all about living in harmony with your environment, this includes the shifting seasons. It's something so many people already do this time of year, but nothing connects more to the season of autumn than decorating for it. Bring pumpkins, acorns, and other natural autumn elements into your home. Be intentional about where to decorate, such as central features like a fireplace mantle, dining table, or entryway.
Feng Shui is a practice that doesn't just enhance your home, it enhances your life. When you add more Feng Shui to your space and to each season and day, you'll start experience more peace, harmony, and magick in your life.
Happy Fall!
