When you hear the term Feng Shui, you may have many questions about it. I get it. This ancient Chinese practice is shrouded in mystery. A part of my mission as a Feng Shui Consultant is to demystify and help people understand more on this life changing practice.Â
One of the questions that people have is, what exactly happens during a Feng Shui consultation? I'll be honest, there isn't a lot of info out there on what exactly happens...which can lead to a lot of misconceptions and false ideas.
While Feng Shui consultations are different according to who your consultant is, I'd like to share what exactly happens during a Feng Shui Consultation with me!
Figure out your Goals/Intentions for Feng Shui
Before you even schedule a consultation, it's important to have an idea of what you want Feng Shui to do for you. I can certainly help you get there, but it's good if you reflect on what you're wishing to add to your life. Is it better health? A promotion for work? Want to be less stress? Have more focus for a work deadline? Feng Shui can be used specifically to manifest certain dreams/desires, or it can be used in a more general sense to balance and harmonize the overall energy of your home. Having at least a general idea of what you want is the first step in the Feng Shui process.Â
Feng Shui Home Analysis
In order to best understand the current energies of your home and how to work with them, I do a little homework before our consultation (no pun intended). I start to look at your home and how it is influencing your life using the bagua map. The bagua map is a tool used in Feng Shui to understand where energies are being placed in your home. It divides your home into nine sectors of life. Laying this over your home's floor plan, we can see where these sectors of life fall into your space. These sectors include love/relationship, career, health, wealth/abundance, etc. I bring these findings to you during our consultation so we can discuss these current energies and how to work with them to positively improve your life.
Qi Walk
A qi walk is similar to giving a home tour to a friend. We go room by room, and I access the overall energy flow in each space and come up with solutions on how to better work with the energy to harmonize your home.
I like to say that a qi walk is like a CSI investigation for your home. It gets pretty personal and in-depth, looking at your closet, pantry, bathroom, and all those places you might have hidden shame around.
But please don't! I know that our spaces are very personal to us, and the thought of having someone come in and snoop around leaves us with an unsettling feeling. However, this is a crucial part in the Feng Shui process. You might have fears that I'm judging your space, but in reality, I'm accessing and taking in information on your energy in order to help you. It'll do you no good if you want help with Feng Shui but you spend an hour tidying up your space before I get there. I need to access and see how exactly you're living so I can provide the most beneficial shifts for you and your space.
Implement Cures
After we have talked about your desires and I've seen your space, it's putting two together to create personal cures for you. Cures are objects and methods used in Feng Shui to deliver certain energies into a space. This is tailored to your energy as well as your space's energy. For example, if someone wants more passion in their love life, and they have heavy metal qi, I might suggest adding garnet crystals, soft textures, and brick material to their space. This is because passion connects to the fire element. However, this heavy metal qi reduces fire. The element of earth are used as a cure to not only reduce the excess metal qi but to enhance the fire element.Â
Now not every cure is going to resonate with a person. Maybe they HATE brick, but adding a simple crystal works for them. I give a list of cures so that a person can be empowered to pick one that connects to them. Remember, it's what is going to benefit YOU. Having a cure you connect with helps you get to your intentions/goals faster than a cure you don't feel strongly towards.Â
Next Steps
Now that you have your list of cures, there are a couple of options on where to go next. You can implement these cures yourself. Depending on the cures, some of these are very easy to add yourself, such as crystals or specific objects.Â
The other option is for me to further assist you in implementing these cures. This can be from finding that crystal that specifically resonates with your qi (since I have the intuitive gifts of reading energies), or assisting in finding cures that work aesthetically in your space. This bleeds into my work as an Interior Designer. Some of these cures, such as adding a specific color or texture, can be done with furniture selections. With my design background, I can make sure you're getting a piece that not only works with Feng Shui energy you need, but looks good in your space too!
Now that you have a clearer idea on what to expect, I'd love to hear from you on what you're wishing to transform in your life!Â
